BPF’s Season 44 performance schedule continues with a staged reading of Elephants in the Basement by playwright Amy S. Hansen. The reading will be directed by well-known Baltimore personality Belle Gaskin-Burr.
Elephants in the Basement asks the question “What is the essence of the character Louise?” Is it when she is with her family? Her friends? Her career? And does her essence change as she journeys through illness and aging? Life, in this drama/comedy, is not like a box of chocolates, but rather like a good soup; it can always be reduced.
The cast includes:
Claire – Alex Reitz
Louise Campbell – Alison McMeans
Chorus/Alternate for Megan – Ciahna Heck
Chorus/Alternate for Louise – Jenelle Brown
Megan Campbell – Jordan Jones
Chorus/Alternate for Claire – Morgan Wenerick
Bernice/Alternate for Nora – Najah Bayyan
Nora/Alternate for Bernice – Rachel Demma
The performance will be hosted at the Eubie Blake National Jazz and Cultural Center, 847 N. Howard St, Baltimore, MD 21201 on Saturday, March 29 at 11 a.m.
A discussion will follow the reading and all audience members are invited to participate.
As always, BPF staged reading performances are free and we encourage everyone to attend and bring a friend to see the next of eleven staged readings that are taking place during the BPF’s Season 44.
