DO IT NOW!

A Musical by Rich Espey and Jonathan Jensen.

“Do It Now!” was the motto of William Donald Schaefer, four term mayor of Baltimore from 1971 to 1986. Schaefer was Baltimore’s boisterous cheerleader, semi-lunatic showman, vexing paranoiac and unimpeachable savior. The show tells the story of Don Schaefer’s time as Mayor of Baltimore – how he rose from being a “dummy” to being the most driven and high-achieving mayor in America. Although he failed at his ultimate goal of elevating Baltimore to the rank of the world’s elite cities, Schaefer convinced a city to feel better and better about itself, even as his own self-doubt and dissatisfaction grew.
