Ernest Sokal, an enthusiastic promoter of Baltimore theater and new works in the Baltimore Playwrights Festival, recently passed away this week after a long and full life. Ernest was the husband of Beverly Sokal, who was part of the Fells Point Theater when it became one of the founding members of BPF. When Fells Point Corner Theatre later opened in 1987 with Beverly at its helm, a BPF production christened the theater. Beverly and Ernest’s contributions to BPF have been notable and we have made a charitable contribution in his memory.
